How do I get started with Merl?
Download Merl on iOS, Android, or open app.merl.app in your browser. Sign in with Apple ID — no email or password needed. Each agent gives you one free cast to try. Pick an agent and follow the prompts.
What is a "cast"?
A cast is one AI generation — one résumé rewrite, one set of headshots, one video clip, etc. Each cast costs a set number of credits depending on the agent.
Which agents are available?
The crew: Editor (résumés + cover letters) · Echo (writing in your voice) · Shine (AI headshots) · Cutter (AI video via Fal AI — Seedance 2.0, Kling, Veo) · Designer (interior redesign). More specialists in the pipeline.

How do credits work?
Credits are the currency you use to run agents. Text agents (Editor, Echo) are 5 credits per cast. Image agents (Shine, Designer) are 12. Video (Cutter) is 30–60 depending on length and model. You get one free cast per agent, then buy a plan or top up. Top-up credits never expire.
Do credits expire?
Subscription credits (Day Pass, Weekly, Pro) reset each billing cycle — unused ones do not roll over. Top-up credits (purchased individually) never expire. Subscription credits are spent first before top-ups.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Go to iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions, find Merl, and tap Cancel Subscription. Cancel at least 24 hours before your next billing date to avoid being charged. You can also tap Manage subscription in the Profile tab inside Merl.
Can I get a refund?
All purchases are handled by Apple. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com and sign in with your Apple ID to request a refund. If the app itself is the problem, email us first — we'll sort it.
How do I restore my purchases after reinstalling?
In the Merl app, go to Profile → Restore purchases. This restores your subscription status and syncs your top-up credit balance from the cloud. Sign in with the same Apple ID you used to purchase.

My headshots don't look like me. What can I do?
Upload clearer, well-lit photos with your face clearly visible. Avoid sunglasses, heavy filters, or photos where your face is partially obscured. The more reference photos you provide, the better Shine's face-identity filter can preserve your features.
The video generation is taking a long time. Is that normal?
Yes — video generation can take 1–3 minutes depending on the model Cutter routes to (Seedance 2.0, Kling, or Veo). Enable notifications in the Profile tab so we ping you when your video is ready.
Can I use Merl outputs commercially?
Yes — content you generate through Merl is yours, within each underlying model's license. For high-stakes commercial or publishing use, consult a legal professional.

How do I delete my account?
Go to Profile → Account → Delete account & data. This permanently deletes your account, history, and associated data. This action is irreversible. Your subscription is managed separately by Apple and will not be cancelled automatically.
Is my data private?
Yes. We don't sell your data or train AI models on your content. Scrolls (cast history) live on-device by default. See our Privacy Policy for the full details.
